Such an interesting and inspiring "Walk and Talk" we had on July 18, 2024. Sarah Cowley addressed
about 20 guests, highlighting a bit about herself and The Blossom Trails. She studied and worked in Horticulture for over 30 years but primarily with the growing of vegetables. Sarah even spent some time in India working in Agriculture so the knowledge she shared with us today was very inspiring and of great value to her audience. She walked us through every part of the installation from the start once she got approval to the finish. Then the real work began with the planting of the Service Berry Trees. She did have a group of volunteers who helped with the initial plantings of the Trees and we were all so pleased with ourselves when we saw the trees in flower the following Spring and each year since planting but there is still a great deal of work that goes into native gardening; You can’t just “set it and forget it” even though nature is very resilient and takes care of itself. You do have to monitor for invasive species that make their way into these natural corridors and you have to remove them or they can take over and choke out all of your hard work if you aren’t on top of them.I know Sarah would be thrilled if anybody felt up to helping with the maintenance of the gardens and If you are so inclined, please reach out to her.
